SELLERSBURG — Avery Koukola had a hat trick and three assists to lead Silver Creek to a 9-1 win over visiting Scottsburg in its Mid-Southern Conference opener Tuesday night.

Alyssa Wright and Hannah Dudley added two goals apiece while Anna Wright tallied a goal and two assists for the Dragons.

“Good win to open MSC play,” Silver Creek coach Patrick Anderson. “We came out focused from the beginning and got a few quick goals that set the tone for the entire game. Avery Koukola played a great game. We’ve tried to get her more involved with the offensive attack and she stepped up tonight. She took good shots and distributed the ball to her teammates to allow them to score. She’s very unselfish and her teammates know that. Our attack looked good, but so did our defense. They did a good job of holding strong and helping build the attack out of the back. They’ll need to play another solid game at Jeff on Thursday for us to win there.”

The Dragons (3-1, 1-0) travel to Jeffersonville on Thursday.
