CORYDON — Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen notched the 100th win of his career Saturday afternoon with the Dragons’ 50-36 triumph at Mid-Southern Conference rival Corydon Central.
In a rematch of last season’s triple-overtime thriller — won by Silver Creek — in the first round of the Class 3A Salem Sectional, the Dragons led 21-17 at halftime before outpointing the Panthers 29-19 in the second half en route to their first regular-season win over Corydon in four years.
Freshman Emme Rooney scored a game-high 18 points while sophomore Jaclyn Emly added 12. Rooney hit four 3-pointers — one in every period — for Silver Creek, which hit seven as a team. Senior forward Alyssa Wright added eight points, all in the second half, for the Dragons (6-3, 3-1) and Schoen, who is in his ninth season at Silver Creek.
Junior guard Lillian Wolfe scored 17 points to pace the Panthers, who were 18 for 25 from the free throw line.
Silver Creek next visits Floyd Central at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
