SELLERSBURG — Silver Creek got a huge lift from its offense in Tuesday’s 13-3 win over visiting Brownstown Central.
Silver Creek punished Brownstown with 12 hits, four of which went for extra bases. Abby Whitlock led the offensive attack with a big day at the plate. She went 3-for-4 with a double and her first two career home runs. She drove in a game-high seven runs and scored two of her own.
“I was happy to see our bats come alive today,” Silver Creek coach Nate Gibson said. “We took a couple extra rounds of batting practice yesterday to help get the bats going.”
Camryn Teague was the winner pitcher for the Dragons. She pitched five innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits. She struck out six and didn’t allow a walk on her way to picking up her seventh win.
“Camryn Teague is in a comfort zone for us right now,” Gibson said. “We always play well defensively behind her. There was a lot of good stuff today, but I was most excited about seeing our bats come back to life.”
The 15-8 Dragons will be back in action today with a home game against Lanesville.
