Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball: Lady Dragons Battle Back but Come Up Short

SELLERSBURG — After trailing 40-27 after three quarters, Silver Creek got within six points of Class 3A No. 4 Salem in the fourth quarter.

In the end, the Lions held on for a 52-42 victory Monday night.

“We battled tonight,” Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen said. “The first half we came out a little sluggish, but as the game went on, our intensity picked up and we battled Salem.”

Jaclyn Emly led the Dragons with 16 points. Lauren Hall had eight, Savannah Kirchgessner seven and Katie Emily six in the loss.

Schoen likes what he sees from his team late in the season.

“Defensively, we’re really good. As our offense continues to grow, I think we’ll be a tough out for somebody.”

The Dragons close the regular season Wednesday against Schoen’s alma mater, South Central. His father, Randall Schoen is in his 19th season as the Rebels’ head coach. Scott Schoen is 7-0 against Randall.
