SELLERSBURG — Despite being down double digits late in the fourth quarter, Silver Creek stunned visiting Madison 36-33 with a Alyssa Wright 3-pointer at the buzzer.
After a back-and-fourth game, the Dragons were down 8 points with just three minutes left. Silver Creek’s Jaclyn Emly caught fire and went on a 12-point run on her own to bring the Dragons back into the game. With the score tied at 33 and the clock expiring, Wright heaved up a shot from about 35-feet out and drained it to send the Cubs home with a loss.
Emly finished with a game-high 25 points. She scored 14 in the fourth quarter. Wright finished with five points for the Dragons. None bigger than the final three.
“It was a pretty slow game until the fourth quarter,” Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen. “I can’t say enough about Jaclyn Emly. She was huge for us with her 14 points in the fourth quarter. I thought we played hard to battle back and then Alyssa hit that big shot for us at the end.”
Silver Creek improves to 8-10 on the year and Tuesday’s win was its third straight. The Dragons are back in action on Saturday at Austin in what is their first of three straight Mid-Southern Conference games for Silver Creek.
