Girls Junior Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball: Lady Dragons Turn Up the Heat on Borden

BORDEN — Silver Creek dominated the host Braves on Thursday with a 56-15 win at Borden.

The Dragons jumped on Borden from the opening tip and never looked back. Silver Creek’s defense was extra stingy and held the Braves to their second-lowest output of the season, including just five in the first half.

“Defensively, we played very well,” Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen said. “We did a really good job pressuring the guards and the ball. Jordan Balz was a beast on defense tonight, and a lot of her defense led to our offense.”

Jaclyn Emly paced the Silver Creek offense with 13 points. Balz finished with 11 and Vic Hutchings added nine.

Borden was led by McKenzii Rothbauer, who finished with six points.

“I thought we played soft tonight,” Borden coach Matt Vick said. “Their pressure affected us tremendously. We have to do a better job of taking care of the ball and running our offense. Our offense created a lot of points for them.”

Borden falls to 3-11 on the year, while Silver Creek improves to 7-10. Borden returns Saturday with a road game at Paoli. Silver Creek hosts Madison on Tuesday.
