Multiple Teams · Girls Basketball: Lady Dragons Out Duel Jennings County

SELLERSBURG — In exciting fashion, Silver Creek picked up its second win of the season with a 40-38 overtime thriller over Jennings County.

With the Dragons down two, Alyssa Wright made two free throws with six seconds left that gave Silver Creek second life. In the overtime, the Dragons outlasted the Panthers with two free throws while holding the Panthers scoreless.

“This was a really good win for us,” Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen said. “A lot of girls really stepped up for us. Kylie Wilkinson had two huge 3s for us in the fourth quarter. Both times she hit a 3, it was right after they had taking a lead and she would keep us in the game. Alyssa only had three points, but they were the biggest of the game. She hit two big free throws to get us into the overtime and then hit the first one in the overtime to give us the lead.”

Silver Creek freshman Jaclyn Emly led the way with 15 points and five rebounds in the win. Kylie Wilkinson finished with eight points for Silver Creek.

The Dragons will be back in action Friday when they host Seymour.
