Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Girls Soccer: Leddon’s Blast Lifts Lady Dragons Over Dogs

SELLERSBURG — Jordan Leddon broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half to give Silver Creek a 2-1 win over visiting New Albany on Tuesday.

The Dragons are now 8-0 on the season.

“Jordan Leddon’s free kick from the wing was unbelievable,” Silver Creek coach Patrick Anderson said. “She kicked a hard, well-placed shot that I wasn’t expecting to put us ahead.”

Earlier in the half, New Albany’s Logan Barber tied the game after Silver Creek’s Ciera May scored the first half’s lone goal on an assist from Alyssa Wright.

“This was a very good test for us,” Silver Creek coach Patrick Anderson said. “We knew New Albany was going to be a good, fundamentally sound team and that they’d make us work for everything. This is a game the girls really look forward to and it was good to come out on top. Both teams played very physical and had good opportunities to score. We were just fortunate to get one more.”

Both teams play Seymour in their next game. The Bulldogs host Seymour in a Hoosier Hills Conference game Thursday. The Owls travel to Silver Creek on Saturday.
